It's Not all Glitz and Glam
Living off-grid is an adventure each and every day, but sometimes those adventures are challenging and down-right difficult. Every day isn't picturesque. When the frost comes early and kills the garden vegetables, or when a beloved chicken has her vent prolapse and has to be put down, or when the waterlines freeze solid for hours, or when it's been cloudy for days and we haven't gotten a decent solar charge in a while, or when my youngest sneaks the daily eggs and breaks them all, or when my kiddos forget to put the lid on the chicken food and 40lbs of food gets rain soaked, it makes for a difficult day.
Everything is work on our high-desert homestead but on the days when everything is extra work and I'm feeling down, it's always nice to wrap up the day with a few minutes snuggling a chicken.
