Our Tiny House Front Door Color Choices

When my husband brought home a tractor trailer and told me that he wanted to build a tiny house on it, I thought he was crazy. Less than 6 months later we had our tiny house!

My husband used our Timber King 1220 to mill the lumber for the framing as well as the siding. We thought we would keep it cedar with the wood exposed with a red door, but once we got to our homestead, we realized to preserve the wood we should paint the siding and the trim.

We took a trip to our local Home Depot, and my husband picked out a few colors he liked, but once we started painting them onto the house, I quickly realized how much I didn't like them. I felt the trim was too dark and that all the blue was more gloomy than relaxing. It was time for another trip to Home Depot.

I proposed leaving the siding the same color but brightening up the trim and the door with a few lighter colors. After a new color on the door and cream-colored trim, I was finally happy with the color of our tiny house! I love the yellow door, it's bright and welcoming and the trim is light and lovely compared to the dark and dreary blueish gray I painted over.

The weather is rough out here and it isn't for the faint of heart. The weather is hard on people and on buildings so this coat of paint lasted 2 years before needing a fresh coat.
